One of Europe's leading convention and exhibition centres. One of its most vibrant, innovative cities. G-MEX and the Manchester International Convention Centre. All the experience, facilities and space to make whatever you want to happen, happen.
It was only in 1982 that work began to convert the vast Victorian train hall into an exhibition and events centre for the city of Manchester. The G-MEX we know today was opened by HM The Queen on 21st March, 1986.
Although primarily an exhibition centre, G-MEX has served as a sporting venue, most notably during the Commonwealth Games, and hosted numerous concerts, the last, by Oasis in December 1997.
In 1998, construction of a linked convention facility – Manchester International Convention Centre – began. Completed in May 2001, the ultra-modern MICC (which was acknowledged in the Royal Institute of British Architects awards of 2002) expanded on the space and facilities available to make G-MEX & MICC one of the foremost events and exhibitions venues in the UK and across Europe.
